I entered my teaching career in September 2010, being a participant in the 4th cohort of Noored Kooli program. As I applied, this is what I wrote about "the why":

A bit about my background
Before coming to teach in school, I worked in Sihtasutus Noored Kooli for 3.5 years, being heavily involved in Noored Kooli program's communication, marketing, recruitment and selection activities. I had also the opportunity to contribute to the initiative called "Tagasi kooli" / "Back to School", which aims at bridging the schools and the rest of the society. I work on this project continuously - right now my aim is to take it to a new and more systemic level.
My own level of English has been greatly developed by a few experiences abroad, which also taught me greatly about the importance of this language. I spent about 2.5 years in Asia, firstly in Singapore and then in China. In China I was a training coordinator at DHL's Logistics Management University, where among other tasks I was assisting the development of an English eLearning program for thousands of DHL employees in China. In Singapore I worked at AIESEC, where I was in charge of member development programs and outgoing exchange. I will never forget these years for all the learning and eye-opening experiences, friends of a lifetime and the amazing food! :)
As to my education, I studied economics (economic policy and international management, to be most exact) at the University of Tartu, finishing the 4-year bachelor degree. That was the time when I also got my first experiences of training people and when I became interested in the concept of responsible (business) behaviour. The latter drove me to work together with my friends on Responsible Business Forum.
Today I know that I would like to continue in the world of education. Teaching, learning, researching, having discussions and actively contributing to the ideas that I believe in. In a few years' time I hope to enroll in a master's program abroad to gain more thorough knowledge in this area and to be able to bring enriching experience and ideas in this field to Estonia.
