The results of the recent English language competition are in!

Joanna (grade 8) came 19th among 49 students.
Mattias (grade 5) shared the 39th-40th place together with a student from Tallinna 32. Keskkool. All together there were 56 participants.

There were students from 28 schools in Tallinn taking part in the event.

Congratulations to both of you, dear Joanna and Mattias! I hope you learned many new things from this experience, both about yourself and the English language!

What can grown-ups learn from children?

With quite a few of you, we have watched this video. If we haven't, do watch it here. If we have, it's worth watching it again every now and then.

PS You can add subtitles too - either English or Estonian, if you prefer (after hitting the 'Play' button, these options come up).

English language competition

Yesterday there was an English language competition for students from grade 5 and 8 all over Tallinn. The competition was held in Tallinna Õismäe Vene Lütseum and there were two students who represented us: Joanna and Mattias (joined by two other students from our school).

While we are waiting for the results, we are sure they did their best!

False friends

In our classroom, outside of the lessons, we all looked for *false friends* - the words which exist in both English and Estonian, but have totally different meanings.

Here is the list of those tricky words that we came up with.. So beware! :)

all         and         arm         head         hell         hunt         keep         king         lame         load         me         mess         mine         mood         moon          must          on         pea         peer         pole         poor         read         rest         ring         road         sea         see          seen         sell         silk         sink         sure         tall         tea         too         tool         torn

Do you know what they all mean?
Can you add even more words? You are welcome to post them here in the comments' field! :)

Happy 2012th Year!

I wish this year will be great for all of us, full of fun, learning, good friends and wonderful moments!

In the class, all of us also wrote down their wishes. Here is the result! :)

In the class we also watched a movie clip about life, and the inspiration to make most of it.

And here is what it says.
